When A Friend Breaks a Promise

Dear Faithful One,

Have you ever counted on the promise of a parent or a friend? How do you pick up the pieces when you face the fact that someone you trusted with all your heart has broken a promise?

As a child, I counted on the promises of my mother. I believed her more than anyone on earth. She represented God to me. She promised she would never leave me, and I believed her. No matter how challenging life was, we promised to be there for each other. Then, when I woke up to find she had taken her own life, I was devastated and in shock. I felt betrayed and couldn’t believe she had given me a false security.
