Solomon says in Ecclesiastes 1:14, “I have seen all the things that are done under the sun and have found everything to be futile, a pursuit of the wind.” At first reading we are left with the message, “Why bother to do anything at all? Everything is in vain!” But Solomon’s conclusion at the end of Ecclesiastes is not that nothing we do matters but that only what we do in obedience to God is what truly matters. Therefore, in whatever we do, let God be the end goal of our activity. Let every breath and energy shout to the world that our God is worthy!
