What core values have you been modeling your entire life only to find that those around you missed the point? Don’t despair or beat yourself up because Jesus had the same experience.  His entire ministry was about loving people and then when his disciples met those who did not welcome Jesus, they asked in Luke 9:54, “Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them?” Can you picture Jesus’ face in response to such an offer? Luke 9:55-56 tells us, “But Jesus turned and rebuked them. Then he and his disciples went to another village.” The Bible tells us James and John were the ones who asked that question. Fast forward the tape of life and we find that James was first to be martyred for Christ after Jesus ascended into heaven and John lived the longest of all the apostles to represent Christ on earth. So the next time you think your example is not bearing fruit, think again. Nothing is wasted. The Holy Spirit will take an obedient life and bear eternal fruit for the Kingdom!
