Your Word for the New Year

As you stare into the new year, are you feeling restless? God told those without faith that “you will never enter my rest.” Faith is the door to peace and with peace comes spiritual and emotional power. If we’re trying to gain control in life through our own human logic, we’re substituting faith with a plan born in our flesh. When we began our journey in faith, did we revert back to trusting in our own plans? God is not impressed with our plans. Without faith it is impossible to please Him. As we enter the new year, how will we let faith shape our choices? Begin by saying, “God, you are my plan. Give us our daily bread. Your grace will be there when we need it. We choose you as our sure and steadfast friend. Together, we will reach any mountaintop or walk through any valley knowing that you win all your battles. With you, we are destined for victory!”
The word God gave me for the new year is Faith! Trust that God will come through! What is your word for the new year? I would love to hear from you!

  • God’s will. God has a plan and a purpose for my life. I know He lead me to what I need to do and I must listen for the Holy Spirit guidance.

  • Happy New Year!
My word is surrender. I choose to be willing to let go of my plans and ideas and surrender to God’s plan- whatever that may be. I pray for discernment and wisdom to be flexible and to be used in the ways God wants to use me.

    • I often share with our staff at Inspire Women that we don’t worship a plan, we worship a living God who reserves the right to take us in a different direction. At first life feels vulnerable as we give up control. But then we realize we are freer than ever because He is writing our stories.

    • I used to hear people say they take a chance in business so why not take a chance on God. Then one day it hit me that we are never the one taking a chance on God because everything He touches ends well. In reality, He is the one taking a chance on us since He is trusting us to stay the course and finish with Him!

  • I chose patience. I cannot do it without laying every thing down at the cross and leave it for God to take care of. Please pray for me to be able to leave it all to Him.

    • Patience is essential if we have a pattern of putting God on a deadline. “Do this God by this time frame or else I’m done with you” is a mode of operation that essentially shouts to the world that God serves our agenda. So yes, patience is key to adopting a life pattern where God is in charge of time. Great insight!

  • My word is Honor. I want to live in a way that inspires my children to honor their parents and honor God.

    • Honor is a complex concept. The Bible expresses the concept of honor as a command. But oh to arrive at that place where honor is given freely and from the heart. It helps me to think of the people I offer that kind of honor to and learn from how they live their lives.

      • It really is complex! I’m hoping I can explore Honor a bit more this year … what it means to honor my parents and also be an honor-inspiring parent to my own 2 teens.
