I’ve had days when I woke up feeling the burden of someone who was going through a hard time. No matter what I did to distract myself my mind continued to recycle back to the details of a situation beyond my control. Although I tried to give the situation to God I knew I was secretly searching for a way I could help.
There are some relationships so close to us that we find ourselves drawn into the ebbs and flows of someone else’s good days and bad days. What has helped me is to learn from Mary who, although she felt helpless as she watched her son suffer on the cross, she chose to make herself available and chose to stand right in front of the cross. When the only gift and the best gift we can give is the gift of our presence, it is our declaration that “though all abandon you I will still be standing right beside you.” And in the togetherness we find a treasure no money can buy and that is the treasure of our commitment and relationship with each other.
When I pray for you I “hear” a victory song. I believe in you because I believe in the power of God’s truths in you as you put His truths into action.
